	"Although I have had no formal training, I have spent quite some time working with well-known South African artist Rina Badenhorst who introduced me to oil painting. After which, I joined the TonkinsonFineArtStudio where I studied under Leóne Tonkinson. Here, I experimented with a variety of oil painting techniques and I have also worked in many mediums. My preference, however, still remains oils on canvas, as I find experimenting with different techniques and textures both exciting and inspiring."

		......Marie is a very active artist, not only in challenging her canvas, but also in the artist community in Port Elizabeth. ......Marie’s work has a magnificent hidden value. This value lies in her surface texture. At close examination, one will find the surface of the canvas to parallel that of stone. This signature is so evident in her work and gives it a very ethnic and unique flavor.
