		First structure the form and reflections in the water. Then focus on the detail. I refer to detail as the pattern of the sea, as seen here in the light house detail.


		Use chalk to draw the perspective lines on your painting. When your planning a seascape, always refer to the top surface of the sea as if it were a flat plain, for e.g. your lawn. This will help you to keep control while rendering detail, no matter what size canvas, your dealing with..



			The sea-pattern consists of broken colour. First try to imitate this pattern with one colour and possibly in a small area, then the next colour as you -follow the pattern through..

	In this photograph you can clearly see the foam effect. This is the trail which is left behind as a boat passes over the water, which is usually left behind by boats - This has been added to the structural form before the texture/pattern has been painted in. In the same breath, this is also the time to add any Colours which appear as reflections in the water as seen in the lighthouse photograph.
