About the artist.

Leone Tonkinson is a South African born painter and sculptor. Although very shy, Leone is also a very dynamic business woman who has used art as a platform to empower people and other artists.

As Leone comes from a very large family, she works best within a team, surrounding herself with like minded people and exhibiting in groups.

Since her sabbatical in the Netherlands, Leone waisted no time in establishing a network, her own private Art School, TAM Gallery and the europARTexpo.

“Most of my painting are inspired whilst preparing for workshops. My art emerges during this process. I usually start with a very accurate sketch, make sponaeous color decisions and then proceed into oil painting techniques which I then seal with all the appropriate painting mediums to secure a stable and professional product.

During my Sabbatical in Europe, my confidence grew. My work is braver, luscious with colour, thicker and more textured. I feel untouchable behind my canvas as my more resent works are moving away from realism.

I found that with the break away from my conservative South African life , the Dutch people showed me how easy it was to be sure footed and confident, through their hospitality. I do hope that my work shows these adventurous changes. It took great courage to take the first steps towards this leap of faith ( I have my good art education to thank for that), into the unknown world of bountiful options of art making.

I still miss the wide open planes of Africa and the smell of the coming rain on the hot sand, but by applying lusious textures and making bold moves in color, I feel that I am free to really appreciate and relive those memories, no matter where I am in the world. "

TAM studio is registered at the Chamber of Commerce in the Netherlands as a Private and independent art school. Here, with 5 other active artists - we offer a unique variety of 45 art courses: In drawing, Ink, Chinese ink, water colors, acrylics, oils and and 3D projects such as leather art, glass fusion, jewelry making, mosaics and sculpture.

Leone’s mission at TAM

• My art career was by no means been an easy road. Due to my passion for art making and my understanding of it’s importance to humanity -  I have climbed impossible hights and over come spiritual as well as physical obstacles, beyond comprehension.
• My main goal with TAM is to create an art center which offers all levels of artists a sanctuary, where they can learn short cuts to success, develop their own methodology and share their knowledge with other artists.
• At TAM, we aim to assist all levels of artists with art marketing, entrepreneur skills and the required individual attention for their success in a professional art career.
   

for the absolute novice, we offer a variety of back to basic courses in art making. These courses are quite popular as they are crash courses containing the all round knowledge of the basic fundaments of individual mediums and their techniques.

for the intermediate artist, we offers art making courses where our accent is placed on individualism. We encourage artists to join us in the sharing of costs through group exhibits and arrange art holidays for them with their art teachers, through out Europe.

for the advanced Artist, we offer a magnificent collection of courses in collaboration with other well known artists. These course contains an awareness of marketing oneself as a professional artist. 

All our class workshops are designed to be fun, while attention is aimed on individualism, by developing each artist with their own unique signature and methodology. We travel abroad and together attend expos and art fairs, as a group - which ensure cost effective results which are almost impossible to obtain as an individual.
